Tikal: Spectacular Maya Temples

Carson climbs down from the section of the temple that is visible. Most of the temple is still buried under the hillside. Hundreds of ruins remain undisturbed, covered under centuries of soil and vegetation.

Temples rise over the jungle canopy, as high as 230 feet.

Look closely and you can see people on the grass.
Carson is upset because climbing this temple is prohibited.

Handsome guy with temple.

Wooden stairs to reach the temple tops have been added in past years to minimize the number of climbers falling to their deaths from the slippery stone steps.

Only the top of this tallest temple has been uncovered.
